#faithoverfear: 3 points to squash fear

Hey guys!

Hope your Friday morning has started off well. Here it’s still early. The sun hasn’t yet popped up over the Eastern hill out from my window. I do so enjoy being able to look outside as I write. Makes for lots of inspiration.

Have you ever had a morning after?

A well known reference would be like a morning after a big drunk the night before. Or a morning after a huge event you’ve been planning for months and months.

That’s how I feel this morning!

No! I don’t have a hang over! Praise God I’ve been clean and sober since December 1989! Wow…31 years! How stinkin’ cool is that! To God be the glory cuz in my own efforts I’d of failed long ago!

This week the governor of our state has issued more mandates. It really doesn’t matter if I agree or not. What does matter is the effects of his statements on the people of this great state!

We human were not created to be secluded, isolated! We were created to fellowship one with another.

In Acts 2:44 ‘All the believers were in fellowship as one body, and they shared with one another whatever they had.’

It’s hard to share with anyone when we’re isolated and shut away from others.

But that’s not my main concern this morning. That’s not why I feel so heavy hearted!

No. What I’m sensing this morning is another wave of heaviness!

Being what’s called a ‘seer/feeler’ I often sense things, feel things, more easily than some might. It makes life challenging at times. Like this morning, when I wake up and have this heavy feeling.

So many are walking around afraid with this new virus that is now spreading around our world. However, the Bible tells us plainly all through out it’s precious pages to ‘fear not’! Do we take that as sound advice? Or do we cower back in fear lashing out at anyone and everyone who does not do what we believe they should be doing, just as we’re doing?

This morning I feel a heaviness in the spiritual atmosphere. So many are afraid!

I myself struggle with fear at times but I know it’s a lie of the devil. It’s one of his top tools in tearing folks down. Fear also brings along with it many other little demons that try their hardest to infect people, much like a virus.

Fear breeds insecurity, chaos, anger, a demanding attitude, gossip, emotional reactions, a do it my way cuz I’m right attitude and much more.

That’s not what God has called us to do. We’re commanded to love one another! In John 13:34-35. Is that easy? Well, for me nope! But I do choose on purpose to follow hard after my Poppa God. I know what it feels like to believe I’m not loveable and also to live in constant fear! That’s horrible.

I wanta share His love, goodness and mercy! I want to help ease this spirit of fear!

What can we do to ease that fear even a little bit?

  1. Be kind
  2. Offer an encouraging word
  3. Make a personal connection

We do not have to stoop low and carry this heavy burden. God’s word tells us His yoke is easy, His burden light in Matthew 11:28-30!

Isn’t it great knowing we’re not alone and that someone is always ready and able to help us carry such a heavy weight!

My friend, I am praying for you this day. That you will find His peace which passes all understanding…that’s in the Word too!

I’d love to hear from you. Shoot me an email at: pamelajwoodall@yahoo.com

Have a great day on purpose!

What will you chose? Good? Or Evil?

G’day to ya!

I do hope your day is starting out well or has been a wonderful one depending on when you read this post. It’s mid-morning for me.

I look out my eastwardly facing window watching the brisk wind chase the fallen leaves all around the yard. I see the small whimsical windmills spinning wildly in my flower garden. My plants have seemingly died but I know they are merely resting until the spring up next year. When the new season arrives, I will feed them a good diet that will enable them to grow strong and thrive!

What are you feeding on?

Hasn’t 2020 brought with it a boatload of multiple issues we’ve had to learn to deal with, learn new coping skills if you will. I personally struggle with a lot of the changes that have hit our society hard. Even so, I will not give up on the greatness of our nation. No wait a minute! The greatness of humanity!!

You see I am a firm believer in the saving grace of Jesus Christ and Him crucified on the cross for you and for me! Without Him I would not be here, and I know that without a doubt! I would either be dead or in an insane asylum because of all the horrors I’ve lived through.

The key word here is… ‘lived through’!!

And we also have choices every day to make that will assist us in making it through each day.

We have a grand choice laid out before us!

  1. We can give into the fear mongering by watching new 24 x 7 and reading every post on social media.
  2. We can say, ‘enough is enough’ and turn it off choosing instead to gain fresh insight and peace!

We take charge of just exactly what we chose to feed on during the day!

I am not saying to go off and do whatever to whomever you wish. No, that’s not right either! We use common sense and stay safe!

There are two sides: Good vs evil!

This is nothing new.

It’s been that way since the beginning of time way back in Genesis chapter 3. Check it out! It’s in the Word!

So, it is with what we choose to feed ourselves day in and day out!

It’s a choice again!

  1. We eat good, nutritious food.
  2. Or we eat junk food that is dead and does us not one bit of good!

You can often tell what kinda diet a person has by what comes outta their mouth!

Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV)

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.

I firmly believe there is a remnant on this great planet watching and strategizing on doing the Father’s work to bring His Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven. I assure you, there is no virus in Heaven! Nor is there any fear or anxiety! Those are tools of the evil one.

What do you think might happen if we as a people of all races, shapes and sizes, colors and beliefs suddenly began to rise up and say, ‘Enough is enough!’ We chose love and peace and humanity!

Oh, to many, maybe even you who are reading these words, may think this is a pipe dream!

I’ve even heard Christians say things like, ‘Well, the end is near! Jesus is coming soon. Ain’t much to do now but wait!’

I say to that, ‘Hogwash’!!

We are called to get off our blessed assurance and be about the Father’s business.

I know! I know!

What about those who do not believe in Jesus.

That’s totally your choice. The cool thing about Jesus is that He most certainly won’t beat you over the head to chose to follow Him. He loves you no matter. But your final destination may not be to spend eternity with Him if you chose otherwise.

Stop! Think! Examine! Research! Read! Strategize! Believe on Him! And breathe in His peace and comfort!

I’ll admit that during this year my anxiety has spiked numerous times. Yet, my trust is in the One who gave me life!  I am choosing to let go and trust Him! I encourage you to join me!

What an exciting time to be alive!

You are not alone!

Fear, #MentalHealth and C-Virus

My goodness! What a crazy world we seem to be living in today, huh?!

I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such a level of mass fear and panic! We must continue to keep our focus on Jesus! When we read His word, there is a reference to ‘fear not’ many times. Let’s apply those daily!

So how ya doing with all this going on? Are you managing ok? Do you have enough supplies? Is anyone checking on you? Are ya goin’ stir-crazy? Could you use a good ole, long hug? I know…me too! I miss huggin!!

Most days I am handling it all pretty well. I do greatly miss being around people and huggin! I miss huggin! It almost feels like some form of punishment for something we didn’t do. Or even an out of control feeling over something we have no way at all of fixin! Whew….

I find myself wondering and actually am very concerned with how others are doing during this C-virus scare with their mental health! Your mental health has to do with your cognitive and emotional well being. It involves how you think, feel and behave. As a result of previous traumatic events, those processes could be skewed or messed up making it very difficult to talk about how we’re feeling.

Sadly in our society, it seems to still be a taboo subject to openly talk about mental illness. Yet, I wonder how many are suffering in silence? How many out there are walking around, well, now they have to stay home, who may be one traumatic event away from exploding? Or are a whisper away from an emotional breakdown? Or believe no one cares?

There should not be the stigma of discussing these issues!!

Many of us deal with mental health issues. Some of them could include anxiety, (there are at least 6 types of anxiety) depression, panic disorders, bipolar disorder, eating disorder, schizophrenia, substance abuse and more. The list is long. There is a horrible shroud over our society to openly discuss these and other issues. Why?

I dare say that if we were dealing with some form of cancer or had a broken bone or even an autoimmune disease we’d gain support and encouragement. Even so, we must press forward and continue to grow and thrive to the best of our abilities helping each other along the way.

With schools closed, I wonder how our children are growing mentally? Now that they are forced to be at home, in many circumstances, with their abuser 24 X 7, I can imagine the fear they may be living with daily! I remember when I was a child, the school was my safe haven! I hated when school was out and I had to stay home no matter the reason. I knew at school there would be no poking or prodding my innocent places like there often was at home. I knew I had a hot meal at lunch every day I was at school. Many times I went hungry at home. Even though I understand the reason behind closing schools, I still hurt for those kids who are experiencing more abuse because of this virus outbreak. So I understand when I read reports of an expected increase of child abuse as well as domestic violence!

I dare say we will begin to see a spike in mental health issues as well. We must continue to educate ourselves and pray for our neighbors, one for another. Dare to be the support someone needs but is so afraid to ask for help. We can come against this fearful time we are now experiencing!

I understand the fear that is covering our great land; not just on the abuse and addiction issue but the lack-issue. Now people are laid off from jobs so they aren’t able to provide for their families. Yes, there is the stimulus check most folks will receive and the unemployment insurance; yet, there are still families where those will not help with all the lay-offs, some even permanently.

May this be the time when we are truly the hands and feet of Jesus showing love and compassion along the way.

I keep #secretsnomore !

She sat hunched over on the tattered couch over in the corner. Maybe if she scrunched herself really hard into the soft cushions she could soon squirm down into the fabric and disappear.

Her stomach hurt from the stress and fear, groaned at the pressure of needing to talk, to share her story. Her throat was dry and she feared she’d cough which would give away that she was indeed present, here, sitting in this room, this office.

Oh she dared not look up, not to raise her head for then they surely would see the wetness that dared to leak down her face and drip silently off her quivering chin.

No! She must continue to remain strong, tough, not give in to the pleading questions asked of her! She must not allow herself to hear the compassion in the voice! She must keep her walls up for her own protection!

But she was ever weakening! She felt her resolve slipping and knew the end was near!

Gathering all her remaining energy around her she slowly lifted up her tear stained face and dates look at the old wrinkly man sitting behind the large desk.

With quivering voice she said, “Yes! That is the man who repeatedly held me down and did horrible, mean things to me!”

Then she faded away into her nothingness!

We all carry them!

We’ve been so conditioned to not tell if we know what’s good for us.

The abuser threatens us in every sorta way to make sure we are silent!

But you can tell the secret and live!

I did! I am #silentnomore because I keep #secretsnomore !

You can too!

Yes, oh my goodness gracious it’s super scary but it’s so worth it to gain your own freedom and step on your healing path!!

If you need someone to tell your secrets to I will listen.

Life is way too short to carey the burdens if others that aren’t yours to pack around!

Radical or Calm Emotions? Which do you have?

It’s early morning as I write these words. I looked out earlier to discover a frost gently laying across our hills and valley. It is beautiful!

I used to not be an early morning person but for some reason as I’ve grown older….actually over this past year…I’ve realized a likening for early morning.

I fix my first cup of coffee, turn on the local news and journal a bit then read The Word and plan out my day.

I so need His Word to direct my day and calm my emotions. I clearly remember when I used to be lead by my radical emotions which often got me into trouble! Now I’m learning to tell my emotions to be quiet and give a listen to what The Spirit is saying to me! Keeps me outta trouble that way!

There is nothing wrong with emotions at all! I believe they are a beautiful gift from our Poppa God to us. He has emotions and we are made in His image so it stands to reason we will have them as well. However it is what we do with them that counts!

How many of you have been at the store and get to witness a child having a temper fit?

It’s not a pleasant experience for sure.

I wonder if our Poppa God looks at us when we’re throwing a temper fit cuz we didn’t get our way shaking His head?

Honestly there have been times when I’ve seen older children throw themselves on the floor frailing and thrashing about and I wanted to spank their bottom! That is not acceptable behavior!

Our Poppa God is a loving Heavenly Father and I believe He expects us to behave in a mature manner as we grow older.

And because He is a loving Father He will discipline us as needed. He does not think up ways to beat us over the head with a baseball bat; no, He loves us and will provide instructions to help guide us.

How do we keep our emotions under control instead of allowing them to control us?

1. Read His Word

The Bible is our life instruction book. We really have no excuse for not knowing how to behave or which way to go for it’s all in the Word! There are many examples of how we are to conduct our self all throughout these pages.

2. Wise Counsel

It’s so vitally important to have those who are mature in the Lord that are willing to journey with you on your path. But take care here, not everyone has your best interest at heart! Choose those mentors wisely! Ask Poppa who it is He’d have you counsel with.

3. Use Your Written Words

I have been journaling since I was a young girl. It’s been very beneficial for me to do so especially as I’ve gotten older to write down my thoughts. I am now able to see patterns of behavior, whether good or bad, that I can either enhance or chose to change.

So often we fear change which actually we’re fearful of the unknown. But again, if we are following hard after Poppa then we have nothing to fear!

I’m finally learning to face my fears by stopping and turning to face whatever fear it maybe and deal with it. No it’s not always easy and my emotions can get all whacked outta place but it is necessary if I intend to grow!

What emotions do you struggle with?

What are some of the ways you have learned to control your emotions?

I pray you have a beautiful day!!

3 Steps to Move Forward while Fighting Depression & Anxiety

I know sometimes you’d just rather stay in bed, at home, away from people where you feel safe and isolated. I do so get that.

Maybe though today you get up, get a shower, get dressed, brush your teeth and comb your hair and step out that door.

One thing at a time. No need to be over thinking a bunch of steps ahead…just do that next thing in front of you!

Depression and anxiety come in many forms, shapes and sizes. You are not alone in this battle!

The sign of a winner is an individual who keeps making forward progress even after many stops and starts including falling flat on his or her face sometimes.

#takeastep

Three things to do today to help you move forward!

1. Take a step forward

No matter how big or small any step is movement forward.

2. Take a breath

Breathing is your friend. Slow, deep breaths help you focus on controlling anxiety. Fill your lungs with life giving oxygen! Stay in the moment. Try to not zone out! Don’t hold your breath!

3. Give yourself permission to fail

So many of us who do battle with depression and anxiety seem to believe everything we do must be done perfectly. That’s a crock! Just try and do your best! That’s forward motion!

I’m rooting for you and I believe in you! Even if you’re not able to see your value, your worth, I see it! You can do anything you set your mind to doing! You’ve fought this battle long and hard!

You are a survivor!

You are a beautiful individual!

You can do this!!
