3 Ways for Important Self-care

Don’t forget to take care of yourself!

Learning to love myself has been a great challenge for I was taught from birth I was worthless and unloved and unlovable!

Ahhh…but I am discovering what a lier all those folks were! However I’ve also discovered it’s so much easier to listen to and believe those lies than to expel them and believe God’s truth about who I am!

Chances are the same holds true for you!

I often ponder on why we’re wired that way…why does it seem easier, less hard work, simpler to take in, absorb, allow those lies to become a part of our innermost being?

Maybe one reason is that if we are not taught from birth of our worth then we will have a stronger perpensity of believing those lies. And seemingly those lies are always sprinkled with a bit of sugar, a smidge of truth that will help the vile taste of the core lies go down better.

But we do not live in a Mary Poppins kinda world. The world in qhich we live in today is full of rage and hate and longing! Yes I believe we’re all, each and every one of us, are all longing just to be loved and accepted!

Accepted in the beloved! Loved for who we really are deep down on the inside we may carey a different belief.

But wait….if you knew the real me you might not like who I really am. If you knew just how frequently I fight fear or unworthiness or self doubt or those dark thoughts of suicide you probably would never wanta talk to me again.

So I’ll throw on my pretty, happy mask and I’ll paint myself up just so you’ll accept me and I’ll buy the push up bra and I’ll have my skin baked to a golden glow and I’ll get many of my body parts pierced or tattooed and so on and so on!! (Guys do the same thing!)

But I digress….

I’m learning to love and appreciate my own quirkiness. I can’t help it if you don’t! That’s on you not me!

I need to love and appreciate me so I can rise up and be what I’ve been called to be. Same as you do!

How can we truly learn to love others if we first don’t love our self!?!

3 Ways I’m Learning to Love Me

1. Listen to my inner messages

I’ve come to realize there’s no way I’d speak to another person as I have myself! So I’m learning to catch these self defeating words quicker and replace the negative with a more positive, truthful message!

2. Forgive Me Quicker

Oh gracious this is a hard one for me!!

I’m still punishing myself over something that happened almost 40 years ago. I know its wrong but have felt I needed to do this!

The Word tells us to be quick to forgive. Well I’m learning that applies to me the same as anyone else!

3. Do Something Daily for Me

Doesn’t need to cost anything nor take a lot of time. It is important that I chose on purpose to daily show my inner self, the little girl within, that I value who I am!

Maybe I take my first hot cup of coffee outside and breath in the new morning.

Maybe I take an afternoon nap.

Maybe I indulge myself with a good chocolate treat.

Maybe I linger longer in a warm hug from my beloved!

Whatever it may be I need to do one thing for me daily!

I encourage you to begin today learning to love and appreciate you! You are worth it and so very important!

I’d love to hear your story!

I Am Not My Anxiety!

Feelings.

Emotions.

Anxiety.

Truth.

Lies.

As I’ve grown older in my adulthood I’ve become more aware of these parts of me. I used to battle panic… fear…. anxiety….parinonia…and more most of my life.

I grew up in a very abusive and dysfunctional home so for me those things were normal. That is until I grew old enough to realize my home life was not normal even though for me it appeared to be so. They were not normal and caused great damage!

Many people I know who have experienced chronic childhood trauma still fight their inner demons….and may continue to do so the rest of their life. I know for me my battle has lessened yet I’m still alert to those triggers.

So many seem not to understand, or for whatever reason chose not to do so, that anxiety is very real! I so wish I never had to experience those feelings ever again.

Personally for me Jesus and my beloved husband have helped me to overcome and grow even more!

I’m so very thankful I don’t have those terrible attacks as frequently as I used to but they’re still there…just beneath the surface of my soul.

Some say I’ll always have them….I dunno. What matters to me is that I am healing and growing and that is possible one step at a time!

If you know someone who deals with anxiety or panic attacks be kind. Don’t tell that person to just get over it or shake it off or to read more scripture and pray harder. Those are really lame things to say!!

When I’m having an anxiety attack its embarrassing because I certainly do not want you to see me at my weakest. Nor do I want your pity.

Just sit with me. Be there for me. Try to distract me. Assure me it will soon pass. (I had a severe one not long ago that lasted bout 5 hours. Longest one in ages!)

Just love and accept me. My anxiety is not something you can catch! Its mine! Although it is loosening its hold on me.

If I have anxiety the rest of my life, so be it! Even so, I will life my life to the fullest because I refuse to allow those who ripped my innocence from my soul any more power!

2018: Focus on the Positive

I see lotsa posts bout motivation for the new year, setting goals, writing down resolutions, hoping to be better and improved than last year and such which is normal this time of year. And while all that is truly a good thing…though I rarely ever did reach mine probably cuz they were too high… I can’t help but wonder if we’re not setting self up for failure.

Now I do like setting goals. My husband and I recently did this very thing for our new businesses we’re launching. Succeed or fail, we’ll never know if we don’t launch out into the deep and give it a go! Establishing measureable goals helps to keep us on track.

There’s plenty of areas in my life I need improvement but I’ve discovered if I spend a lot of time focusing on those areas of lack, failure, disappointment, etc I’ll end up grumpy and depressed. Well I don’t need that! Believe me!! And you don’t either. That’s why I say that we may be setting self up for more failure.

How bout writing down your accomplishments?!?

What positive things have you done in 2017?

What can you celebrate for this passing year?

Now isn’t that loads more fun to think on than the humdrum and negative??

So for me…..I published my first book with book 2 scheduled for spring 2018. I also started a new business with my incredible husband and plan to start a second one this year! I have experienced a tremendous healing…no back pain for 65 days today! That means no pain meds! This year I’ve learned Whose I am, not the lies others have tried to say I am. Those are just a few for my 2017!

I’m 2018 I pray you learn to love yourself more than ever before; that you develop days for self care because you’re worth the effort; that this new year you are able more than ever to forgive you as well as forgiving any who have hurt you….forgiving is a power tool for you to enable you to gain your freedom and healing.. and I pray this is the year you gain more peace of mind than ever before.

Remember, you are not responsible for others, only for how you respond! Chose love for them and use healthy boundaries! No one is allowed to come in and smash up your garden (heart)!!

You are a beautiful child of God and He loves you so much!

I’m learning to look in the mirror and proclaim ‘Right thar is a mighty amazing woman’! Why?? Cause Jesus lives in me!!

Happy 2018!!

Rock on and make it an awesome year!
